Air Brakes & Accessories for Coach Conversions
by George Myers
New!
150 pages. An understanding of the air systems is essential for anyone considering a coach
equipped with air brakes. Older systems were rather straightforward, and easy to understand.
However, the Federal Motor Vehicle Safety Standard 121, which came along in 1975, changed
that. Modern spring systems have components, such as a "spring brake modulating valve" or a
DD3 pressure regulator and "inversion valve," that the maintenance supervisor (you) must
understand to keep the system operating safely. Helping the reader understand the basic
operation of the various air systems (service brakes, emergency brakes, and air driven accessories)
is the goal of this book. Click here to see the table of contents.

LP (Propane) Systems for Coach Conversions
by George Myers
New!
Propane systems start with the supply tanks and run to the points in the appliances where the gas
burns to produce the heat we need. Because the tanks can leak, and they have an over-pressure
relief valve, they must be in a properly-designed well-ventilated compartment. Between the two
points, the propane flows through special connectors, valves, pressure regulators, and tubing to the
appliance. Each propane appliance, including the stove, refrigerator, water heater, and furnace,
has its own chapter in the book that describes the other options to do the same job, the operation of
the propane appliance, its installation, and its maintenance. The last chapter explains the recognized
practices and equipment to ensure your propane system is safe.

Hot-Water Heating for Coach Conversions
by George Myers
A detailed description of the design and installation of diesel-fired furnace systems that use hot
water flowing around a loop to distribute the heat. The information applies to the installation of
systems such as the Webasto and Aqua-Hot. In addition to interior space heating, these systems
can provide heat for the domestic hot water and to heat the main coach engine on cold days.
All aspects of the systems are covered including the plumbing for the hot water loop and the
layout of the electrical control system. Special attention is paid to the problems caused
by the long lines and small circulating pumps. The text covers other heating options,
installation problems, and available models.

TV Systems for Coach Conversions
by George Myers
There have been significant improvements in TV systems. Today's normal picture quality is much
better and we have far more programming choices. Satellite systems give more channels than off
the air TV and there are new recorders that can further expand our options. To take advantage of
these new capabilities, the components need to be installed in the coach as a total TV distribution
system. This includes choosing the right components, connecting them together using the new cable
standards, and having the right switching to send the signal you want to the TV set of your choice.
Designing your TV distribution system is best done as part of the design of the coach and installed
before the cabinets. If your coach is complete, updating is much easier if it is all done at once. TV
Systems for Coach Conversions provides the information you need to design the TV system for your
coach. Particular attention is paid to providing the information people who have no experience with
Satellite TV systems and programming providers need.

The Orange Blossom Special, II
by Jack Conrad
Jack Conrad, the host of the Bussin’ rallies in Arcadia, FL, has compiled his many articles from
Bus Conversions Magazine and The Coach-Builder’s Bulletin into this book. The book starts out with
"The Saga of the Orange Blossom Special II," where Jack describes the process to prepare his MC-8
for conversion, install the interior, and use the coach. Building the Orange Blossom Special II was a
series of projects. The book describes some of these in enough detail, in text and pictures, that the
reader can understand exactly how it was done. Jack is a Paramedic Fire Fighter. His experiences
on the job have given him a unique understanding of the health and safety problems related to
coach travel. He shares many of the things he has learned in this area in the last chapter of the book.

Videos

Epic Conversion Support has six videos showing the work George and Sue did modifying their latest conversion. Sue was the primary camera person using her home camcorder. The photography and production are not professional, but every effort was made to ensure the video coverage was as thorough as they could make it. While there are many comments about the problems and solutions that are appropriate for other coaches, the videos just cover what was done on this one bus. They are not the meticulous analysis of the subject that characterizes the Coach Conversion Notes.

Raising the Roof
Covers how to prepare the coach, support the roof while it is being raised, cut the vertical supports, raise the roof, and fill in the gaps.
Bonding Steel Over Window Openings
Shows how we covered the window openings with 18 gauge steel using Sikaflex to bond it in place. It also covers installing new RV windows.
Making a New Front Cap
Shows the fiberglass on plywood method we used to build a redesigned cap.
Coach Insulation
Discusses the options to insulate your coach, then shows how we did ours with blocks of foam. (1 hr. 58. Min.)
Making Tanks Using Fiberglass On Plywood
Shows how we actually made our tanks using the techniques discussed in our Note, "Fiberglass on Plywood Tanks". (1hr. 58 min.).
