Thanks for purchasing software from Geodesic Solutions. ############# SERVER REQUIREMENTS ############## Below are the requirements of the "host" you wish to install the software to. If you already have an account with a hosting company, contact us for a script to upload to your server that checks to see if all the requirements are met. If your current hosting provider does not meet the minimum requirements, and is unable or unwilling to accommodate you to meet these requirements, contact us for further options. If you have a dedicated server with root access, and need help upgrading or installing something to meet any of these requirements, contact us and we can point you in the right direction. For a list of hosts that we have verified meet the minimum requirements, see the resources section of our website. --MINIMUM HOST REQUIREMENTS-- The software will not function properly, or not at all, without at least these minimum requirements from your host: - PHP version 4.3+ - MySQL version 3.2+ At least one of the following: - IonCube Loaded at Runtime --OR-- - IonCube Loaded in php.ini --OR-- - Zend Optimizer Installed (currently not compatible with PHP 5.2) If you are in the process of choosing a new hosting company, note that you will usually have to ask the hosting company if they support either one of the last two requirements, as they are not typically listed on a host's "feature list". If you prefer, contact Geodesic Support and we will be happy contact the host for you, to verify if they meet the minimum requirements. --RECOMMENDED HOST REQUIREMENTS-- The software will run fine with the minimum requirements listed in the section above, but if you want to get the most out of your new Geodesic software, we recommend these hosting requirements: - PHP version 5.1+ (Software is enhanced for PHP 5.1 and above) - IonCube Loaded at Runtime (recommended over the "IonCube Loaded in php.ini" or the Zend Optimizer options) - GD Library - Needed for "security image" feature, and image upload resizing/manipulation - MySQL version 4.* or 5.* (higher versions of MySQL typically run faster and more dependably) #############QUICK INSTALLATION INSTRUCTIONS############# NOTE: A MORE DETAILED APPROACH TO THE INSTALLATION IS AVAILABLE IN THE USER MANUAL FOUND IN OUR SUPPORT CENTER. There are 2 methods for "uploading" the software to your server. There is an installation wizard you can use, or a zip file to allow you to upload the files manually. The recommended method is to use the installation wizard, as it simplifies the process, and automatically uploads the needed IonCube loaders specific to your host. It also has an intuitive help feature, that can walk you through each step of the wizard. Below are the instructions for using either method: USING INSTALL WIZARD: Geodesic_CA_full_install_wizard_v#.exe 1) This method will over-write all files, including custom images, so only use it if you have not previously installed the software. For upgrades, see the upgrade wizard. 2) Double click on the executable Geodesic_CA_full_install_v##.exe to start the wizard. If you need help at any point during the installation, click on the "Help" button at the bottom of the wizard. 4) After the installation wizard upload is finished, it will automatically take you to the online portion of the installation process. If it does not, visit the page "setup/index.php" using your browser (see step 3 of the zip file instructions below). 5) Follow the online instructions exactly as they appear. Do not skip any step, or the software will not install properly. USING ZIP FILE: Geodesic_CA_full_install_v#.zip 1) Unzip/Extract the software onto your pc. Note: If using WinZip be sure to EXTRACT the files so that the directory structure is maintained. 2) Open an ftp connection to your domain and ftp the files to the same location you want the software to be accessible from a browser. For example, if you want visitors to type in www.yourdomain.com, then ftp the software to the root directory of your domain. Or, if you want visitors to type in www.yourdomain.com/listings/, simply create an "listings" folder and ftp the files to that location. The choice is yours where to install the software. It may sit anywhere on your server so long as you can access it from a browser. IMPORTANT: THE FOLLOWING FILES MUST BE UPLOADED IN BINARY MODE IF USING ZEND VERSION. IF YOU ARE UNSURE HOW TO DO THIS CONSULT THE HELP SECTION OF YOUR FTP PROGRAM. classes/products.zend.php classes/php5_classes/products.zend.php classes/DataAccess.class.zend.php classes/php5_classes/DataAccess.class.zend.php 3) After ftp has been completely finished...There is a "setup" folder in the root of your software's distribution files. Open a browser window and type in the path to that folder. For example, if you installed the software at the root of your domain, type in: www.yourdomain.com/setup 4) Follow the online instructions exactly as they appear. Do not skip any step, or the software will not install properly.
